This hour, Wolf Reads is hosting a Bookish Humor challenge for us to come up with a joke or cartoon or something that makes us laugh. Well, here are two things that I've come across just during the Read-a-thon this year:
First, while visiting a fellow bloggers site that I saw in an early challenge is located not too far from me, I spotted this graphic that made me smile...
...and then while researching some books for another challenge earlier today, I happened upon this book on Amazon that made me really smile!
So neither is necessarily a joke or cartoon, but both brought a smile to my face during the read-a-thon!

READ-A-THON (April 2011): Hour 19
I'm still hanging in there, but I admit that I've cheated and taken a nap. I just couldn't keep my eyes open any longer. But at least I own up to it! Now I'm watching some horror/western hosted by Elvira while I force myself to stay awake.
JDMontague.com is hosting a mini-challenge this hour for which book character you would crush on and run away with and why.
The one character that came to mind was that of Dr. Sam Parker in Falling Home by Karen White. I said in my review for the book that I had an image of the husband of Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond in my head as I read of Sam Parker.
Now that alone should make you want to run off with him, but just picture him in chaps!
Need I say more?

READ-A-THON (April 2011): Hour 12
So, I'm afraid that I took a short break from the read-a-thon, as a friend invited me out to Bokeelia to watch the sunset and eat some dinner. So I stepped out for a couple of hours, but I did take my book and got a couple of pages in!
Here's my mid-event meme:
1. What are you reading right now? I only have a couple of pages left to read of The Nobodies Album by Carolyn Parkhurst!
2. How many books have you read so far? 0
3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon? I haven't decided. I'm thinking of going with a "fun" book (instead of one I need to review, which tend to be "heavier" stories). Maybe a zombie story or a little light YA like Matched.
4. Did you have to make any special arrangements to free up your whole day? No, other than letting my friend know that I would be busy. But he still invited me out to give me a break in the outdoors.
5. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those? Yep. This read-a-thon has been riddled with interruptions. I just resigned myself and dealt with them.
6. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far? That I've actually been getting some reading done, and joining in on fewer challenges!
7. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year? Not really. I always think you guys do an awesome job!
8. What would you do differently, as a Reader or a Cheerleader, if you were to do this again next year? I always say "read more", and I'm always sorely disappointed in how little I read.
9. Are you getting tired yet?A little, but not bad. And I said to heck with my diet today and brought a piece of chocolate cream pie home with me! So I've got that to use as a pick me up in the upcoming hours.
10. Do you have any tips for other Readers or Cheerleaders, something you think is working well for you that others may not have discovered? I have nothing to do but learn from everyone else. I'm so bad at this! I have horrible focus!
Of additional note: The most interesting thing I've turned up during the read-a-thon (while doing a little research for a mini-challenge)...

I'm just sayin'...
OK! Time to get back to reading and finish this book. Good luck everyone!
READ-A-THON (April 2011): Hour 10
Well, we are 10 hours into the read-a-thon, but I got a late start. So I am actually on hour 5, I think.
So far I've only made it through about 45 pages in less than 2 hours of reading. I spend entirely too much time checking out the challenges and other posts and such!
So now, back to it!

READ-A-THON (April 2011): Hour 1
I'm getting going now! Here's my meme:
1)Where are you reading from today? I'll be spending a lot of time on the couch in the living room, and will do some time in bed. I may even read a little outside (although it's a little steamy to be out for too long!)
2)Three random facts about me… I have a zoocrew of a dog, five cats, a bird and a turtle. I work in the tech industry. I already have wayyyyy more books than I can probably ever read in my life!
3)How many books do you have in your TBR pile for the next 24 hours? Just a couple. I'm a very slow and distracted reader. So my goal is to simply be able to read 400-500 pages. That would be really good for me!
4)Do you have any goals for the read-a-thon (i.e. number of books, number of pages, number of hours, or number of comments on blogs)? My goals are to finish two books that I have going right now, and get started on a third.
5)If you’re a veteran read-a-thoner, any advice for people doing this for the first time? I'm the last person to give advice, given I'm not very good at this. My only advice is to enjoy yourself!
